Eyewitnesses report that Rogers was accosted by the gunmen as he exited his vehicle, with a firearm pointed menacingly at him before being forcibly taken along with his car to an undisclosed location around 9 pm.

According to sources close to the journalist, Rogers had recently covered an event in Ndoni, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara inaugurated a Primary Healthcare Centre.

The facility, a commendable effort by the PAMO Educational Foundation, founded by former Rivers governor, Dr. Peter Odili, aimed to benefit the community.

In a distressing turn of events, the abductors have contacted Rogers’ wife, demanding a staggering sum of N30 million as ransom for his safe return.

The demand has left his family and colleagues in a state of anguish and uncertainty, appealing fervently for his immediate release.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, have been met with silence, as repeated calls and messages remain unanswered.

As the search for Rogers continues, the hope remains that he will be safely reunited with his loved ones, and justice will prevail against those responsible for this heinous act.
