Mrs. Abigail Orbunde, wife of Mr. Terwase Orbunde, the former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Samuel Ortom, along with her maid, Patience Ogute, have been freed from captivity.

The pair were abducted by armed assailants suspected to be herders while on Mr. Orbunde’s farm near Makurdi.

Following their abduction, a ransom demand of N100 million was made.

Their release was confirmed via a statement on the verified social media account of a family associate, Mr. Tahav Agerzua. According to Agerzua, Mrs. Orbunde and her maid were released on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, after an undisclosed sum was paid to the abductors. They endured four days of captivity before regaining their freedom.

Upon release, the freed captives were reunited with family members and immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention. Mrs. Orbunde expressed gratitude for their deliverance, recounting the ordeal of trekking through the bush without sustenance.

Meanwhile, Mr. Orbunde, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital. He expressed gratitude for the support received from well-wishers, both in prayers and financial contributions, which facilitated the release of his wife and maid.
