Gunmen have struck again in Anambra State, this time targeting and fatally shooting former President-General of Amansea Development Union in Awka North local government area, Chief Cajetan Nwokike.

The news of Nwokike’s murder, revealed by the National President of the Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State, Omeife I Omeife, has sent shockwaves across the state, particularly in light of recent cult-related killings.

According to Omeife, Nwokike was attacked by assailants while performing his daily ritual of breaking the kola nut in his residence in Amansea.

The gunmen, reportedly two in number, stormed his house and mercilessly shot him at close range, instantly claiming his life.

This tragic incident comes less than two months after the assassination of Chief Silas Onyima, the President-General of Umuoji in Idemili North local government area, further highlighting the alarming trend of violence targeting community leaders in the state.

In response to the escalating violence, the Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State (APPAS) has called on Governor Soludo and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in apprehending the perpetrators and restoring peace to the state.

The association mourns the loss of another esteemed leader and emphasizes the urgent need for swift and decisive action to bring the culprits to justice.
