The Nigerian Army has verified a distressing incident involving two soldiers serving in the 74 Supply and Transportation Brigade, 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division.

Private Aliyu Musa Abdullahi was stabbed by his fellow soldier, Private Yahaya Sani, during a public altercation at the New Artisan market, Enugu.

According to an incident report by the army, the altercation escalated to physical violence, with Private Yahaya Sani using a dagger to inflict a head injury on Private Aliyu Abdullahi.

Private Aliyu Musa Abdullahi had accused Private Yahaya Sani of theft, particularly of his missing phone, which led to the confrontation.

Private Aliyu Musa Abdullahi, the victim, is currently receiving medical treatment at the 82 Division DMSH, while Private Yahaya Sani is in custody pending further investigation.

This incident follows closely after another troubling occurrence involving a soldier from the same division, Private Mohammed Adamu, who tragically killed a pregnant woman, Miss Hauwakulu Tabra.

In response, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized that the Nigerian Army does not enlist former insurgents, though recognition is granted to the Civilian Joint Task Force for their contributions in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
