A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos has approved serving notice of a pending DNA test application to Wunmi, the wife of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, via substituted means.

This decision came after unsuccessful attempts to personally serve her by the court sheriff.

The Aloba family is disputing the paternity of baby Liam and has petitioned the Family Court to compel Wunmi to undergo a DNA test.

The family’s legal team, representing Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, sought an order to serve Wunmi the court papers for the DNA test by posting them at her last-known address.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, explained that this method of service would ensure Wunmi is aware of the pending suit.

The Chief Magistrate granted the order for substituted service, directing the court process to be posted at her last-known address.

In response to the court order, Wunmi, in a viral video, expressed readiness for the DNA test but had not been available for personal service by the court sheriff.

The matter has been adjourned to the following month for the report of service.

Meanwhile, counsel to Wunmi, Taiwo Olawanle, claimed unawareness of the court order and stated willingness to advise Wunmi to comply if provided with the order.

Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances in September 2023.

His body was exhumed for autopsy, and the Lagos State Police Command inaugurated a special investigation team to probe his death, leading to the arrest of Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, among others.

At the recent session of the Coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death in March 2024, Dr. Richard Somiari of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre assured that autopsy results would be ready within the next three to four weeks.
