Eyewitnesses recounted the shocking scene where the commissioners, both recognized figures in their respective communities, openly exchanged blows without regard for onlookers.

An eyewitness, speaking to Daily Gazette, expressed dismay over the incident: “I witnessed the entire altercation firsthand. It was completely unexpected. I’m not privy to the cause of their altercation, but this marks the fifth time they’ve been involved in such clashes.”
