The Benue State Government is set to introduce a robust security initiative with the launch of a 10,000-man security outfit aimed at bolstering existing efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.

Governor Hyacinth Alia disclosed this during an expanded stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Government House in Makurdi.

He emphasized that the establishment of this security outfit is crucial for securing Benue communities and restoring confidence among rural farmers to access their farmlands without fear.

Governor Alia highlighted plans to procure Hilux vans and motorcycles for patrols across the state by the personnel of the security outfit.

He commended the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and security agencies in ensuring the safety and security of the state and the nation as a whole.

The Governor assured stakeholders that the security outfit, comprised mainly of Benue youths, would be launched before the end of May.

He also briefed attendees on the government’s strategies to address the security challenges facing the state.

In addition to security measures, Governor Alia outlined achievements in various sectors, including infrastructural development, healthcare, and education.

He emphasized the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities, revamping the education sector, and promoting skills acquisition programs for youth empowerment.

Alia reiterated the government’s dedication to transparent and accountable governance, pledging to continue delivering on promises for the overall development of the state.

The stakeholders, including representatives from different zones, lauded the Governor for his developmental initiatives and pledged their support for the government’s efforts.

In a vote of thanks, Deputy Governor Sam Ode expressed his unwavering support for the Governor and assured residents of Benue South of the government’s commitment to their welfare and development.
