Senator Sir Kelvin Chukwu, representing the great people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone, has urged the federal government to urgently modernize the nation’s power grid and invest in renewable energy sources to attract private sector investment.

Senator Chukwu made this call in Abuja on Wednesday after the meeting of the Senate Committee on Finance and Power.

The meeting focused on key financial policies and strategies to enhance the country’s power infrastructure.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Labour Party parliamentarian highlighted several critical areas needing urgent attention, including the modernization of the power grid, investment in renewable energy sources, and the implementation of policies to attract private sector investment.


“Ensuring a reliable and sustainable power supply is crucial for the economic growth and development of our country”.

“We must work together to create policies that not only address current challenges but also lay a foundation for future advancements in the power sector” he said.

The Senate Committee on Finance and Power is set to continue its deliberations, with plans to submit a comprehensive report outlining recommendations and actionable steps to improve the nation’s power infrastructure.
