The speculation arose after National Chairman Julious Abure announced the creation of new directorates, including the “Obidient Directorate,” aimed at integrating members of the Obidient Movement into the Labour Party.

This move sparked discontent among some movement members, who issued a statement denouncing the party’s decision.

Reacting to the announcement, Obi emphasized that the Obidient Movement transcends political party boundaries and cannot be confined to one entity.

This statement fueled rumours about his potential departure from the party.

Addressing these rumours at Abuja airport on Thursday, the former Anambra State governor stated: “I remain a faithful, committed, and loyal member of the Labour Party. As a leader of the party, my aspiration and desire, working closely with other leaders, is to reconcile our valued members and partner with like-minded individuals and parties across the country to build a strong and better party that will catalyze and commence the rebuilding of a new Nigeria.”

Obi clarified that his previous comments were intended to address concerns among supporters, many of whom are not affiliated with any political party but share the vision of a new Nigeria.

“Our goal and aspirations remain that a new Nigeria is possible,” he affirmed.
