
Police in Anambra State have successfully rescued six sports journalists who were kidnapped by suspected criminals in the Isseke community of Ihiala Local Government Area.
The journalists were traveling to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to cover the Nigeria vs. Libya African Cup of Nations qualifying match when they were abducted on Wednesday along the Isseke-Orlu Road.

The rescue was confirmed on Thursday by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command.
He stated that joint security forces had worked together to free the six journalists, while efforts continue to locate and rescue the seventh member of their crew.
“Joint security forces have rescued six members of the media crew who were abducted while traveling from Lagos to Uyo,” Ikenga said in his Thursday statement.

He assured the public that operations are ongoing to secure the remaining journalist’s release and to bring the kidnappers to justice.
