The Edo State government has successfully recovered three out of the 200 government vehicles reportedly taken by former officials, according to Kelly Okungbowa, Chairman of the Committee responsible for the recovery.

Okungbowa revealed that one of the recovered vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus, contained palliative items intended for distribution to the people of Edo State.

The recovered vehicles include a Hilux van and two Toyota Hiace buses. Among the palliatives found in one of the buses were bags of garri and rice, weighing 10kg and 25kg.

Speaking to journalists, Okungbowa emphasized the importance of public cooperation in the ongoing recovery efforts, stating that the information received from the public was crucial in securing the recovery of the vehicles.

He further appealed for more tips, assuring that whistleblowers would be rewarded generously if their information proved accurate and verifiable.

“We have reports indicating that over 200 government vehicles are still unaccounted for. We urge former government officials and citizens in possession of these vehicles to return them within the next 48 hours. The success of our operation depends on timely and reliable information,” Okungbowa stated.

He added that the committee is moving forward with the recovery efforts, with security agencies providing support to ensure a smooth operation.

No resistance has been encountered so far, he confirmed.
