Three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ogbadigbo Local Government Area in Benue State have died in a road accident while travelling to attend the party’s zonal congress in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The crash occurred on Wednesday along the Makurdi–Lafia Expressway.
State Organising Secretary of the APC, James Ornguga, confirmed the incident, noting that several other party members sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.
“Yes, we lost three of our members from Ogbadigbo, while others were injured and are receiving treatment at BSU Teaching Hospital,” Ornguga said.
Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, described the accident as “traumatic and heartbreaking.”
In a statement issued by his media aide, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Moro said losing multiple people from a single local government in one incident was devastating.
He extended condolences to the families, friends, and political associates of the deceased, prayed for the repose of their souls, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
