Normal activities have resumed across Enugu State as workers returned to duty following the Easter holidays, with government offices gradually regaining full operations.

At the Federal Secretariat Enugu, several offices were observed open, with staff attending to official responsibilities for the day. Civil servants expressed readiness to continue their duties after the festive break.

One worker, Chimezie Nweke of the Federal Ministry of Health, said resuming work was important to clear pending tasks and continue serving the public.

Similarly, Chinelo Ugwu of the Federal Fire Service noted that although she was on standby during the holidays, it was encouraging to see offices fully active again.

Business activities also improved within the secretariat environment.

A service provider, Olushola, who operates a car wash, said patronage had increased after a quiet holiday period.

At the state level, activities resumed early at the State Secretariat, with commissioners and the Head of Service, Godwin Anigbo, commencing official duties from the morning hours.

Some workers reflected positively on the Easter break, noting it provided an opportunity to reconnect with family and recharge.

However, concerns were raised about transportation costs, with calls for government support to ease commuting expenses.

Responding, Anigbo encouraged workers to remain dedicated and committed to their roles, emphasizing the importance of effective service delivery in governance.

Addressing transportation concerns, he highlighted the state government’s introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses as a more affordable alternative to conventional transport.

He also disclosed plans to deploy additional buses and taxi services to further support workers.

Anigbo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, noting that the N80,000 minimum wage is being implemented, while assuring that more measures would be introduced to improve working conditions in the state.
