The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has presented a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the Principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, in recognition of her courage after surviving a 56-day kidnapping ordeal.
Mrs. Alamu was abducted alongside fellow teachers and pupils during the May attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area.
The victims spent nearly two months in captivity before regaining their freedom.
While in captivity, the principal was reportedly forced by the kidnappers to feature in several videos used to relay messages and make demands to the authorities and the public.
Presenting the vehicle, Senator Alli praised Mrs. Alamu for displaying remarkable courage, resilience and selflessness throughout the traumatic experience.
He noted that her commitment to the safety and well-being of the abducted pupils, despite the harsh conditions, was worthy of honour.
He described the donation as a symbolic gesture to appreciate her bravery and to demonstrate support for victims of insecurity, expressing hope that it would ease her recovery and encourage her as she returns to her professional duties.
Alli also stressed the need for greater recognition and support for teachers who continue to serve in communities affected by security challenges, describing them as unsung heroes whose sacrifices should not go unnoticed.
The release of the abducted teachers and pupils after 56 days in captivity brought relief to their families, residents of Oriire Local Government Area and the entire Oyo State.
Residents and community leaders have applauded the APC governorship candidate’s gesture, describing the donation as thoughtful, timely and a deserving reward for a school administrator whose courage inspired many during one of the state’s most traumatic kidnapping incidents.
