Big Brother Naija Season 6 winner and entertainer, Hazel Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, has expressed frustration over what he described as the growing financial expectations in Nigeria’s dating scene.
The reality TV star made the remarks in a video shared on his official Instagram page, where he jokingly appealed to fans to recommend a suitable partner.
According to the 34-year-old entertainer, finding genuine relationships has become increasingly difficult, as many interactions appear to revolve around financial demands.
“I can’t even lie, I’m getting old. Dating culture in Nigeria is becoming something else. Abeg, where them dey see better woman now? Una get referral code? Any small thing, billing. Small hello, billing. How are you? Billing,” he said.
His comments quickly generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians sharing mixed opinions about the current state of dating and relationships.
While some users agreed that modern dating has become increasingly transactional, others argued that genuine partners still exist and suggested that the singer may simply be looking in the wrong places.
One social media user noted that the challenges of dating are not limited to Nigeria, while another insisted that there are still good women, but they may not fit the preferences of some celebrities.
Whitemoney, who celebrated his 34th birthday on June 6, rose to national prominence after emerging winner of the 2021 edition of Big Brother Naija.
Since then, he has remained active in the entertainment industry as a musician, entrepreneur and media personality.
