The Executive Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Hon. Dr. Yahaya Sa’idu, has died following a brief illness, barely 18 months after his predecessor also passed away while in office.

The council’s Information Officer, Ahmed B. Yusha’u, announced the death in a statement made available to journalists in Yola on Saturday.

According to the statement, Sa’idu died at a hospital in Kaduna at about 10am on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Yusha’u said further information regarding the funeral arrangements would be made public in due course.

The chairman’s death has plunged the Fufore Local Government Council and the wider Adamawa State community into mourning, particularly as it comes about 18 months after the death of his predecessor, Hon. Shaibu Basbas, who also died while serving as council chairman.

Condolences have continued to pour in for the deceased’s family, associates and the people of Fufore following the announcement.

Among those who expressed grief was the former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas.

In a personal message shared on his WhatsApp handle on Saturday, October 10, Abbas described the late Sa’idu as a dedicated and industrious leader whose contributions to Fufore and Adamawa State would be greatly missed.

The senator also prayed to Allah to grant the bereaved family and the people of the area the strength and patience to endure the loss.

“Dr. Yahaya Saidu was a committed leader who gave his best in service to his people. My heart goes out to his family, friends, associates, and the good people of Fufore Local Government Area during this very difficult time,” Senator Abbas mourned.

Similarly, Hon. Ahmad Lawan, a Senior Special Assistant on Security to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, expressed sadness over the chairman’s death.

Lawan extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, relatives and the people of Fufore Local Government Area, urging them to find strength during the difficult period.

Sa’idu’s death marks another loss for the Fufore council, following the passing of Basbas, his predecessor, while still in office.
