The former Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Enugu State, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, has extended warm greetings to workers across the state and beyond on the occasion of the 2025 International Workers’ Day.
In a statement issued in Enugu on Thursday, Edeoga praised the resilience, dedication, and industrious spirit of Nigerian workers, especially those in Enugu State, for their unwavering commitment to nation-building despite the many socio-economic challenges they face.
According to him, “today, we honour the sacrifices and tireless efforts of workers who remain the backbone of our society. Enugu workers, in particular, have shown incredible strength, loyalty, and professionalism in the face of hardship. I celebrate their courage and patriotism.”
Edeoga noted that the 2025 Workers’ Day presents an opportunity for reflection, not just to acknowledge the accomplishments of the workforce, but also to deepen the conversation around workers’ welfare, fair wages, and improved working conditions.
He emphasized that no society can thrive without prioritizing the well-being of its workers.
He further urged governments at all levels to revisit and re-engineer labour policies to reflect the realities of the times, stressing the need for prompt payment of salaries, pension reforms, and stronger protections for workers in both public and private sectors.
Edeoga further called on workers to remain hopeful and united, assuring them that their efforts are seen and appreciated.
