Dr. Samuel Ngwu, a former Commissioner for Health in Enugu State, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated April 28, 2025, and made available to journalists in Enugu.
The letter was personally signed by Dr. Ngwu and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Umunevo Ward 2 in Enugu North Local Government Area.
It was also copied to the PDP State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike.
Part of the resignation letter read: “This is to notify you of my resignation from the PDP with effect from 28 day of April, 2025.
“I thank the Stakeholders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for according me the opportunity to serve my state, Enugu and country Nigeria.
“Sincerely yours, Dr. Samuel Ngwu.”
When reached for comments regarding his decision, Dr. Ngwu who contested for the Enugu East Senatorial seat under the PDP in the 2011 general elections, stated that his reasons for leaving the party were personal.
In addition to his service as Health Commissioner from 2015 to 2017, Ngwu had previously served as a PDP National Delegate from Enugu State between 2011 and 2014.
He also contested for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives in the 2014 general elections under the party’s platform.
