Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has expressed strong belief in President Bola Tinubu’s ability to confront and overcome Nigeria’s current challenges.
Speaking on Thursday during the commissioning of various projects in Awka, Anambra State, Anyaoku commended President Tinubu’s democratic credentials and his long-standing role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Your Excellency’s personal records as a NADECO champion of the return of democracy to our country in 1999 inspires my confidence that you will successfully steer the ship of our country through his present serious challenges including the underperforming economy, which breeds massive poverty and widespread insecurity to the destination that we all the citizens of this country desire,” the elder statesman remarked.
Highlighting the complexity of governing a diverse and multi-ethnic nation like Nigeria, Anyaoku prayed for divine guidance for the president in discharging his duties effectively.
“Every discerning observer knows, governing our pluralistic country is a very complex task, and so I’m sure many others like me will continue to pray that God will give you the wisdom and the courage to face and address the pluralism of our country,” he said.
In a related development, traditional rulers from across Anambra State conferred the chieftaincy title of ‘Dike Si Mba’, meaning ‘Hero from another land’ on President Tinubu during his visit to the state.
The honour was presented by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi, on behalf of royal fathers from different communities.
President Tinubu arrived in Anambra through the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, around 12:15 pm, and was warmly welcomed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Deputy Governor Onyeka Ibezim, and other top government functionaries.
During his visit, Tinubu commissioned the new Anambra Government House and several infrastructure projects executed by the Soludo-led administration, a visit marking his second trip to the South-East in 2025, following his tour of Enugu State in January.
