The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology and the 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Enugu State, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has described Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi’s move to the APC as “a restoration of strength, intellect, and capacity to the progressive family.”

Chief Nnaji made this remark when Hon. Prof. Nnamchi, accompanied by members of his constituency, visited him at his Asokoro residence in Abuja on Tuesday, shortly after formally defecting to the APC.

He praised the lawmaker’s integrity, legislative record, and unwavering advocacy for youth empowerment and technological advancement.

In a moment characterized by strategic alignment and a shared vision, Hon. Prof. Nnamchi who represents Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency described the visit as significant and a mark of respect.

His defection to the APC has been met with widespread approval and has sparked renewed optimism across the political landscape of Enugu State and beyond.

The visit was far more than a political courtesy; it was a convergence of intellect, purpose, and progressive ideals.

It brought together two notable figures, one, a distinguished academic-turned-lawmaker, and the other, an accomplished technocrat, committed to charting new paths for scientific innovation and technological empowerment, particularly for the youth of the South East.

Prof. Nnamchi reaffirmed that his decision to join the APC stemmed not from personal ambition but from a deep commitment to serve his constituents through a platform that aligns with his vision for sustainable development, inclusive governance, and innovation-driven growth.

Discussions during the meeting focused on collaborative initiatives such as promoting digital literacy, establishing innovation hubs, expanding rural tech access, and implementing targeted science education programs for underserved communities, especially in the South East region.

Both leaders agreed that Nigeria’s future depends on embracing innovation as a common language, one that can rebuild trust, foster unity, and drive prosperity across ethnic and political divides.
