The Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, on Tuesday undertook an inspection tour of the ongoing Amurri Farm Estate project, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to timely completion and full alignment with the state government’s agricultural vision.

During the tour, which was conducted alongside key local government officials, Hon. Ogbodo expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far on the site.

He commended the level of work done, particularly in land clearing and preliminary site development.

“I am satisfied with the level of ongoing work here. The clearing is almost complete. We will soon begin construction of the gatehouse and perimeter fencing,” the Chairman said.

He emphasized that the farm project aligns with the state government’s broader goal of agricultural revitalization, as championed by Governor Peter Mbah.

“We will fully implement all directives of the state government concerning this farm estate. We are committed to supporting Governor Mbah’s laudable dream of boosting agriculture and ensuring food surplus in Enugu State,” he added.

Hon. Ogbodo disclosed that upon completion, the farm estate will feature a large warehouse, a solar-powered borehole, and other essential amenities designed to enhance productivity and sustainability.

Highlighting community involvement, the Chairman revealed that wards such as Agbani and parts of Akpugo have voluntarily donated over 200 hectares of land to the programme.

He appealed to other wards yet to participate to provide land in order to benefit from the agricultural opportunities being rolled out.

“This initiative is not just about farming; it’s about creating jobs, ensuring food security, and improving livelihoods across our communities,” he noted.
