In a bid to improve infrastructure and enhance access to education, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Ogbodo, on Monday carried out an inspection of ongoing road construction projects in Akpugo.
The inspection focused on access roads leading to the newly established Smart Schools located in Akpugo Ward 2 and Ward 4.
The council boss emphasized that the initiative is part of his administration’s broader commitment to ensuring that communities are not left behind in the drive for digital and quality education.
According to Chief Ogbodo, the strategic construction of access roads to these educational facilities is aimed at easing transportation challenges for both students and teachers, particularly during the rainy season.
“Our goal is to make education accessible and inclusive. The Smart Schools are a critical investment in the future of our children, and it’s only right that we complement them with good roads,” he said during the site visit.
He commended the contractors for the progress so far and urged them to adhere strictly to project timelines and quality standards.
Residents present during the inspection expressed appreciation to the council leadership, describing the project as a “welcome development.”
The road construction forms part of a broader infrastructure push in Nkanu West, aimed at driving development across rural communities and promoting educational advancement.
