The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced the nomination of 57 distinguished legal practitioners for elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

Kabir Akanbi, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, made the announcement on Thursday, following the committee’s 169th plenary session held on Tuesday.

The SAN rank is awarded to legal professionals who have demonstrated exceptional excellence, either through outstanding advocacy in court or significant contributions to legal academia, according to the statement issued by the committee.

All nominated candidates are required to attend and successfully complete a mandatory pre-swearing-in induction program, as directed by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN).

This program must be completed before the formal conferment of the SAN rank.

Additionally, candidates are reminded of strict guidelines under Paragraph 25(1) of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Guidelines and Rule 39(3) of the 2023 Rules of Professional Conduct.

These regulations prohibit the publication or encouragement of advertisements, congratulatory messages, or goodwill notices relating to their nomination or conferment. Violations of these rules may result in sanctions.

The official swearing-in ceremony for the 57 successful candidates is scheduled for September 29, 2025.
