Chaos erupted at the Government House in Asaba, Delta State, over the weekend after a cow, brought in for slaughter, went berserk and injured several staff members.
A man in his 30s, who tried to subdue the animal, was seriously hurt after being knocked down.
He was rushed to the Government House clinic before being transferred to an undisclosed hospital.
According to a source “he sustained deep wounds on his thighs and was initially taken to the Government House Clinic for emergency care. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently battling for his life.”
Another victim, identified only as Peter, a cook at the Government House, also suffered injuries during the ordeal. The source further explained:
“The first two butchers called to slaughter the cow were unable to handle it and fled the scene. The critically injured victim was reportedly the second person called to take over the task.”
