Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has publicly declared unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, while firmly denying any intention to contest for governor under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Reacting to reports linking him to a possible governorship bid on another party’s platform, Ambode described such claims as deliberate misinformation.
“I wish to publicly reaffirm my absolute and unshakable loyalty to the APC, the party under which I had the privilege of serving Lagos State as governor and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my leader, mentor, and a tireless champion for Nigeria’s progress,” he said.
He emphasized his total commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that his loyalty is not only enduring but resolute.
Lauding Tinubu’s leadership style, Ambode praised the president for driving forward key reforms across several sectors.
Describing Tinubu as a “proven achiever and result-oriented leader,” he commended ongoing federal efforts in areas like pension reform, student loan access, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
He also pointed to achievements in fuel supply stabilization, security improvement, and pro-people governance.
“His focus, determination, and inclusive governance style are delivering tangible results. Given another four years, Nigerians will have even greater reason to celebrate,” Ambode stated.
As 2027 draws closer and political activities intensify, Ambode urged members of the APC and the public to remain focused on the party’s mission.
“Let it be clear: I stand solidly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. We will work together to ensure victory in 2027 and continue delivering the dividends of democracy,” he declared.
Encouraging the public to “ignore political distractions,” Ambode reaffirmed his intent to play an active role in ensuring the APC’s success at the polls.
