President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Peter Ogbonna Eze as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Commissioner representing Enugu State.
The announcement was made by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, alongside the appointment of 36 other commissioners from across Nigeria.
Peter Eze is widely recognized as a driven economist, public administrator, and business leader with extensive international experience in management, leadership, and strategic partnerships.
A native of Aji in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eze has built a reputation for fostering organizational growth, implementing innovative solutions, and championing sustainable development.
Eze’s academic journey demonstrates his commitment to excellence.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, earning Second Class Upper Honors from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 2014.
During his time at UNN, he held various leadership roles and received multiple awards for outstanding service.
He further advanced his education at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China, where he earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration between 2017 and 2019.
He was recognized as the Most Outstanding Student at UIBE in 2019.
Eze’s early education began at The Lord’s Foundation Nursery/Primary School in Nnewi and continued at Federal Government College, Nise in Anambra State, where he completed his secondary education.
Throughout his career, Eze has garnered numerous accolades, including the Rotary International Leadership Excellence Award (2023) and the China-Nigeria Friendship Award (2022) bestowed by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.
He has also represented Nigeria on the international stage, notably participating as a delegate in the NASPAA-Batten Student Simulation Competition in 2018, focusing on pandemic crisis management and global health security.
Professionally, Eze’s career spans multiple sectors.
He started as a Senior Programme Officer at the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation (2014–2015), overseeing development initiatives.
During his National Youth Service Corps year, he worked as a Special Correspondent for The Sun Newspapers (2015–2016), covering significant beats such as government, education, and foreign affairs.
His international experience includes serving as Head of the International Desk for the Chinese CEO Group in Beijing (2017–2019), where he led Africa market expansion strategies and improved operational efficiency.
Back in Nigeria, Eze has held key leadership positions including Director of Procurement and Logistics at Slok Nigeria Ltd (2018–2020), Director of Strategy, Policy, and Document Control at The Sun Publishing Ltd (2020–2022), and Director of Operations at The New Telegraph (2022–2023).
He currently leads Bullion Standard Nigeria Limited, managing operations across importation, mining, production, and services, while fostering strategic international partnerships.
Peter Eze has long collaborated with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, serving as his Special Assistant and contributing significantly to political, developmental, and philanthropic efforts.
Senator Kalu is believed to have played a role in facilitating Eze’s appointment, acknowledging his dedication and leadership potential.
With a wealth of experience in journalism, corporate management, policy development, logistics, and international business, Eze is expected to bring strategic insight and robust leadership to the Federal Character Commission.
