Former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has been endorsed by northern leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as their consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, next month.
The announcement was made late Wednesday in Abuja by Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, following a meeting of PDP stakeholders from the northern region.
Governor Fintiri explained that the decision was reached after extensive consultations among the leaders.
He, however, noted that any aspirant dissatisfied with the outcome remains free to contest at the convention.
Before the endorsement, reports had indicated that former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, ex-Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido and Turaki were top contenders for the chairmanship seat.
