The people of Ukwuna Autonomous Community in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State have unanimously endorsed Ozo Prof. Agụ Gab Agụ, a distinguished professor of law and respected community leader, as their preferred candidate for the position of Igwe of Ukwuna.
The endorsement was announced in a joint statement signed by Engr. Christopher Maduka Ozoagu, President of Ukwuna Community (Lagos Chapter), and Dr. Simon Ndubisi Agụ, Coordinator of Ukwuna Community (France Chapter), and made available to journalists in Enugu on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the decision followed extensive consultations among elders, youths, and women in the community.
The leaders said Prof. Agụ’s integrity, intellect, and commitment to service made him the ideal person to steer Ukwuna into a new era of peace, unity, and progress.
“The chiefs and cabinet members of Ukwuna Autonomous Community unanimously endorsed a legal luminary, an academic icon, and one whose sterling leadership qualities have always stood out, Ozo Prof. Agụ Gab Agụ (Agunaecheibe),” the statement read.
They described the endorsement as a landmark achievement for the newly created autonomous community, noting that Prof. Agụ’s track record of excellence aligns with Ukwuna’s aspirations for sustainable development and inclusive leadership.
The statement added:
“It is another outstanding and glorious feat for the Coal City and for the people of Ukwuna, who now have a leader whose service to humanity speaks for itself.”
The community leaders also expressed deep appreciation to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his administration’s commitment to grassroots governance, infrastructural renewal, and inclusive community development across Enugu State.
“We wish to thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his wonderful developmental strides in the state. Truly, our tomorrow is here,” they said.
They further expressed optimism that under Prof. Agụ’s leadership, Ukwuna will witness greater peace, unity, and progress, and called on all indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind him in building a more prosperous community.
Concluding, the leaders extended a message of goodwill:
“We sincerely congratulate Ozo Prof. Agụ Gab Agụ (Agunaecheibe) on this great endorsement and pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will grant him wisdom to lead our people. Long live Ukwuna Autonomous Community, long live Enugu North Local Government, and long live Enugu State.”
