The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has addressed the recent arrest and remand of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, who is the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos last week and subsequently transferred to Abuja for further investigation.

The actress, whose marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko has been in the public spotlight, had raised concerns about her brother’s arrest, alleging that the police were biased in favor of her estranged husband.

However, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, stated on Friday that the arrest was lawful and conducted following due process.

According to her, multiple invitations for questioning were sent to Ojeogwu, which he failed to honor, prompting the issuance of a court-sanctioned arrest warrant.

Adeh explained that the case stems from a petition submitted on 28 October 2025 against Ojeogwu and three others, alleging criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.

Investigations have since been concluded, and Ojeogwu was charged in court on 6 November 2025. He was remanded pending fulfillment of bail conditions.

“The command remains committed to professional policing, due process, and upholding the rule of law,” Adeh emphasized.

Meanwhile, Senator Ned Nwoko, Daniels’ estranged husband, has not publicly commented on the arrest.
