President Bola Tinubu has submitted a fresh nomination to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Victor Ikeji as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) commissioner representing Abia State.

The request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary.

Tinubu noted that the nomination was made in line with Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Ikeji is expected to replace Obinna Oriaku, whose earlier nomination was communicated to the Senate in a letter dated October 9.

The President urged lawmakers to “consider and confirm” Ikeji’s appointment as Abia’s representative on the commission.

Senate President Akpabio subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations, directing the panel to conduct its screening and report back within one week.
