A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness, says one of the world’s best poets of all times, John Keats.
There is no doubt that the beauty and loveliness of Enugu State increases every day courtesy of the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mba, a man who has taken it upon himself to bring back the glory of Enugu the capital of Eastern Nigeria and the prime city of Igbo tribe the world over to its pristine and alluring nature to which the planners of the city the white man and the subsequent administration of Michael Okpara left it.
There is also no doubt that a significant level of decay had set in before now in matters of environmental sanitation and infrastructure development and stability in the coal city arrising from neglect and or maladministration of some previous governments in the state before His Excellency, Barr Peter Mbah came to the rescue.
Even as activities of the Christmas and new year festivities receed to minimal level after the high tempo engagements that were the hallmarks of the season as many of those who returned home from across the globe make haste to get back to where they earn their living, yet many of them are going back with tales of joy of what the new Enugu has become.
And it is not just story of the city with paved roads and street lights that shine brilliantly all night long, nor just about our roundabouts and squares adorned with statues commissioned from the best sculptors around.
Which in turn has given exposure and patronage to the vast array of talents we have in that field of artisc endeavour across the state.
Others will definitely be going back with the news of how easy and comfortable the transportation system in Enugu State generally has become courtesy of the Governor Mbah administration which provided over 100 CNG ultramodern Transit Buses.
In addition new bus terminals are built in key locations with modern facilities to improve travel convenience and efficiency.
On the other hand, Enugu Air has about 6 brand new planes in its fleet aimed at boosting trade and tourism to the state.
Nor is the flurry of goodnews coming out of Enugu spent, many are happy with what Governor Peter Mbah has done with the International Conference Center in Enugu which has carved a special brand for itself within a few months of its commissioning and has become a toast to conference organizers across the country.
This has not only enhanced tourism in the state but contributes significantly to our revenue portfolio.
They will tell the story of the majestic Hotel Presidential, Enugu, put back to life by the government of Governor Peter Mbah and standing as a throwback to the iconic taste and foresight of leaders of old, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Michael Okpara.
And they will relay with relish the coming of the 5 Star 360 bed International Conference Hotel, astonishing in it’s architectural design.
This very hotel when commissioned will end up being the best hotel in Eastern Nigeria. Same story with the revitalized Nike Lake Hotel amidst other big hotels in Enugu that offer maximum comfort and hospitality to the people.
And our brothers and sisters, even visitors going back from Enugu would need no prompting to talk about the 5 Star International Hospital with 300 beds or the amazing turnaround in the services and equipments in the Parklane Teaching Hospital and the 260 Type 2 Hospitals across the political wards of Enugu State, all aimed at providing quality health services to our people.
Even as the novelty of building and equipping 260 Smart Green Schools would have made a dazzling impression on their minds and worthy to be related to friends and well wishers as they provide career focused pathways that align with future employment opportunities for our children.
Water and environmental sanitation have also recorded impressive results as a city once litered with dirts now shines ever brighter and water flows from our taps to enhance our hygiene and to ease our former troubles at getting drinking water.
The government of Governor Peter Mbah has expanded clean water access for the people of Enugu State.
Of paramount importance is that this yuletide brought nothing but joy and peace to the citizens of Enugu State, and our visitors alike as security was top-notch.
If there were reports anywhere of breaches it must have been at the bareest minimal compared to other times. And this is due to the state’s Central Security Control Command that puts all security related issues under focus as they unfold within the length and bredth of Enugu State.
And the motivation given to security agencies in the state by Governor Peter Mbah to ensure full commitment and dedication to duty.
When one of the holidaymakers openly declared recently that Enugu State is entering its golden with premium services of Governor Peter Mbah, I echoed ‘Tomorrow Is Here’ loudly in affirmation.
