The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of three young children by suspected abductors in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Nkwegu, opposite the gate of the Nkwegu Military Cantonment, a location that has heightened public concern due to its closeness to a security facility.

According to police authorities, the case was reported by the parents of the victims shortly after the incident.

The abducted children include a two-year-old boy and two girls aged four and two.

Spokesman of the Ebonyi Police Command, Joshua Ukandu, said the command is fully aware of the situation and has commenced investigations and search operations.

He disclosed that, as of the latest update, no ransom demand has been made and no suspects have been arrested, but efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the children safely.

Ukandu assured residents that officers are working round the clock to track those responsible and secure the release of the victims, urging the public to remain calm and provide useful information that could aid the investigation.

The abduction has triggered widespread anxiety among residents, particularly because it happened near a military installation, raising fresh concerns about security in the area.
