Troops under Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully killed two bandits and rescued 62 kidnapped victims during coordinated operations in Kebbi State and Zamfara State, the Nigerian Army announced.

In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, said the operations were carried out in collaboration with allied security forces and local vigilante groups.

“In Kebbi, troops ambushed members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the Augie–Binji border, killing two terrorists and recovering two motorcycles equipped for long-range movement,” Osoba said.

The terrorists were reportedly wearing camouflage uniforms, and the motorcycles were padded with thick blankets to aid mobility.

In Zamfara, the troops raided Munhaye forest, a known hideout of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Alti, and successfully rescued 62 kidnapped individuals.

The rescued victims are now in safe custody, with efforts underway to reunite them with their families.

“The operations highlight the unwavering commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma and its partners to dismantle terrorist networks, restore security, and protect lives in the region,” Osoba added.

He emphasized that the mission is part of the military’s broader strategy to combat banditry and terrorism across the North West, reinforcing the army’s dedication to safeguarding citizens and stabilizing affected communities.
