The Accountant-General of Nasarawa State, Musa Ahmed Mohammed, has resigned from his position to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mohammed announced his resignation on Monday in Lafia during a political rally, where he formally declared his ambition to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule.

He said his decision was driven by persistent appeals from supporters and residents who urged him to step into the race.

“I have decided to sacrifice my position as Accountant-General in response to your calls,” he said.

“I am grateful to Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving my resignation and giving me the opportunity to pursue this ambition. I hereby accept your call to contest the 2027 governorship election.”

The former Accountant-General pledged to build on the achievements of the current administration if elected, noting that his experience in government has equipped him with the necessary leadership insight.

“Having worked closely with this administration, I have gained valuable experience from the governor’s leadership, vision, and resourcefulness. I will consolidate on these achievements and will not disappoint the people,” he added.

Mohammed, who was appointed Accountant-General in 2023, previously served as Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2015.
