The Supreme Court has directed lawyers handling appeals and motions scheduled for hearing between September and December 2026 to submit all relevant court documents electronically through the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS).
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi, in line with Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.
According to the apex court, legal practitioners are required to visit the Supreme Court’s website, access the Litigation section, review the list of appeals and motions fixed for hearing within the period, and upload all documents relating to their cases through the online platform.
The court said the documents to be uploaded include the Record of Appeal, Briefs of Argument, pending motions and every other filed process connected to the matter.
It added that all required documents must be uploaded no later than 30 days before the scheduled hearing date, as stipulated under the 2026 Practice Direction.
The Supreme Court noted that the directive applies to every appeal and motion listed for hearing between September and December this year and forms part of efforts to fully implement the Nigerian Case Management System.
The court urged legal practitioners to comply strictly with the new filing procedure, stressing that the electronic platform is designed to enhance efficiency, improve case management and ensure the timely determination of matters before the apex court.
