The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced a search-and-rescue operation following an accident involving an ATR-42 aircraft in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.

The aircraft, according to the NAF, was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when the incident occurred on Monday.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the force confirmed the accident and said rescue efforts were immediately activated.

“Search and rescue operations, in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies, are currently ongoing,” Ejodame said.

He added that the NAF was committed to ensuring the success of the ongoing rescue operation.

The Air Force said further details on the incident would be made available as soon as they emerge.
