Pastor Professor Leonard Chinedum Anigbo of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is set to deliver the institution’s 61st inaugural lecture, focusing on the role of integrity in assessing future leaders and tackling examination malpractice in Nigeria.

The lecture, titled “Resuscitating a Fainting Nation Through Integrity in the Assessment of Future Leaders: The Crises of Examination Malpractice and the Path to National Renewal,” will examine the implications of examination malpractice for national development and the need to uphold integrity in the assessment of prospective leaders.

Anigbo is a Professor of Educational Measurement and Evaluation in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Education at ESUT.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 11am at the Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Auditorium, ESUT.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Nnabugwu Okolie, will host the event, according to an invitation issued by the institution.

A statement made available to DAILY GAZETTE by the Chairman of the ESUT Inaugural Lectures Committee, Professor M.V.O.N. Ezeamenyi, announced the forthcoming lecture and invited members of the university community and the public to attend.

The lecture draws inspiration from Proverbs 14:34: “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.”

The choice of topic places examination integrity at the centre of discussions on educational standards, leadership preparation and national renewal, highlighting the importance of credible assessment processes in building a society founded on accountability and ethical values.
