A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 22-year-old Point of Sale (POS) operator, Janet Vincent, to sweep the court premises for 40 days after she pleaded guilty to stealing N250,000 from her employer.

The sentence was handed down on Wednesday by Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, who said the punishment was intended to deter others from engaging in similar criminal acts.

Emmanuel also warned Vincent against committing further offences after completing her sentence.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Leo Chidi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 5 at Ungwan Maigero Karji, Kaduna.

According to the prosecutor, Vincent stole the N250,000 entrusted to her by her employer for POS transactions.
