Israel has carried out airstrikes on the Houthi-controlled Hodeidah governorate in western Yemen, escalating tensions between Tel Aviv and the Yemeni rebel group.

According to the Houthi Interior Ministry, the strikes targeted port areas late Sunday night, following Israeli warnings urging evacuation of three key ports under Houthi control.

The strikes come in the wake of a recent missile launched by the Houthis toward Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.

Israel responded by hitting Hodeidah’s port infrastructure, in addition to earlier bombings of Sanaa International Airport and other parts of the Yemeni capital.

The Houthis have consistently targeted Israel and its Red Sea interests as part of their declared support for Palestinians amid Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza.

Since the war began 19 months ago, over 52,000 Palestinians have been killed, including 57 who reportedly died of starvation under Israel’s blockade imposed in March, Palestinian sources claim.

Despite ongoing ceasefire discussions with the United States, Houthi leadership clarified that any deal excludes military operations against Israel.

The group had paused its attacks during a temporary Gaza truce but resumed them after Israel reinstated the siege and resumed full-scale operations.

Meanwhile, U.S. forces have conducted near-daily airstrikes across Yemen over the past two months, targeting Houthi positions and infrastructure.

These strikes have led to numerous civilian casualties, including children, further intensifying the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
