Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, appeared at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court today for her arraignment on charges of alleged defamation.

The Federal Government is bringing a three-count charge against the senator, accusing her of defaming Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Tight security surrounded the court premises as the high-profile case drew significant attention.

Among those in attendance were the senator’s husband, former Minister of Education Oby Ezekwesili, and prominent activist Aisha Yesufu. A large number of her supporters also gathered to show solidarity.

The case has generated public interest due to its political implications and the stature of those involved.
