The Nigerian Army’s 82 Division has successfully graduated 120 personnel from its Company Strength Training, an intensive combat readiness programme held at the Division’s Training School in Enugu.
The graduation ceremony took place at the Division’s Shooting Range in Udi, near Enugu, with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, commending the personnel for their endurance and dedication throughout the eight-week training.
Maj.-Gen. Olatoye, who also heads the Joint Task Force South-East, Operation UDO KA, highlighted that the training was crafted to prepare troops for both conventional and asymmetric warfare, equipping them with the tactical skills required for modern security challenges.
He explained that the programme aligns with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, which is:
“To consolidate the transformation of the Nigerian Army towards bequeathing a well-motivated and combat-ready force that can effectively discharge its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.”
Olatoye emphasized that the training is part of broader efforts to elevate the professionalism, leadership, and combat capabilities of troops across all operational theatres.
He encouraged the graduates to put their new knowledge and skills to use in upcoming deployments and missions.
Earlier in his remarks, Brig.-Gen. M.J. Abubakar, the Division’s Training Officer, applauded the graduating personnel for their teamwork, resilience, and fighting spirit, noting that the training included simulations of real-life combat situations, including jungle warfare, counter-insurgency, and internal security operations.
He added that the trained personnel are being deployed for special intervention missions and will play a key role in advancing national security objectives.
The graduation ceremony included practical displays such as rifle stripping and reassembly, armed combat drills, certificate presentations, and a group photograph to mark the milestone.
