The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the promotion of its Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

His elevation from Assistant Commissioner of Police was approved by the Police Service Commission, in recognition of his exceptional professionalism, service excellence, and steadfast commitment to advancing policing standards in Nigeria.

Adejobi was initially appointed as Force PRO in an acting capacity on February 16, 2022, while still a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), succeeding then Commissioner of Police Frank Mba.

His appointment was later confirmed by former IGP Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd.).

Since assuming the role, DCP Adejobi has been instrumental in driving reforms in police communications.

Under his leadership, the Force’s public relations approach has been revamped to promote greater transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.

A graduate of the University of Ibadan, Adejobi holds a Combined Honours degree in Archaeology and Geography, as well as a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution.

His policing career includes a significant tenure as Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State from 2008 to 2016.

With decades of experience spanning police operations, public advocacy, and media relations, DCP Adejobi has established himself as a key figure in reshaping public perception of the police.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated him on his promotion, describing Adejobi as “a role model” and urging him to continue upholding the values of discipline, integrity, and service.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its resolve to reward excellence and professionalism as part of its ongoing transformation efforts aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and public trust.
