Prof. Paul Nnamchi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday signed into law a bill establishing the Federal University of Agriculture, Ako Nike, Enugu State, DAILY GAZETTE reports.

The bill, which was sponsored by Professor Paul Nnamchi, member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, aims to promote innovation and research in agriculture while expanding access to tertiary education in Nigeria’s South East region.

The university, once operational, will complement existing institutions of higher learning and strengthen federal presence in the state.

The bill’s passage had earlier received widespread support in both chambers of the National Assembly and was applauded by stakeholders across the education and agricultural sectors.

With this assent, the Federal Ministry of Education and relevant agencies are expected to begin the implementation process.
