Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 in a dazzling finale held in Lagos on Saturday night.
Basil clinched the crown after an intense final showdown with Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde.
The announcement was made by the pageant organisers following a night filled with glamour, cultural displays, and spirited competition.

The competition began with 22 contestants, out of which 10 advanced to the final rounds.
Notable among them were contestants from Delta, Ekiti, Imo, Ebonyi and Oyo, who impressed but didn’t make it to the top five.
The event celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage with a vibrant traditional attire segment, combining local fabrics with contemporary fashion.
A swimwear round promoted body positivity and inclusiveness, while choreographed performances added flair to the night’s entertainment.
Despite not winning, Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro, led the public voting with 38,319 votes, followed by Miss Lagos with 34,033 votes, and Miss Ekiti with 28,074 votes.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the Miss Universe Nigeria organization hailed Basil’s win as “an unforgettable night” and praised her beauty, intelligence and confidence, noting that she’s ready to represent Nigeria on the global stage later this year at the Miss Universe international pageant.
Hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, the event was held at the Silverbird Group’s venue and attracted significant attention online, trending across major social media platforms.
Basil now succeeds Chidinma Adetshina, the outgoing Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
