Tragedy struck again in Zamfara State as armed bandits launched a deadly assault on a mosque in Yandoto community, Tsafe Local Government Area, early Friday morning.

According to reports from Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency outlet, the gunmen stormed the mosque during morning prayers, opening fire on worshippers.

At least five people were killed on the spot, while several others were abducted and taken into the nearby forest.

The exact number of those kidnapped remains unknown.

The violent incident has sent shockwaves through the community. Grieving residents later gathered for funeral prayers in honor of the slain victims.

“We ask Allah to forgive their sins, accept them as martyrs, and bring peace to our troubled land,” said a community elder during the service.

This latest attack comes just days after a similar incident in Gidan Turbe village, also in Tsafe LGA, where 40 worshippers were kidnapped during early morning prayers.

In that case, eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived around 5:30 a.m., encircled the mosque, and forcefully led the victims into the forest near the Gohori area.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from state authorities or security agencies regarding the Yandoto mosque attack.
