Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been decorated with the traditional title of Sarauniyar Yaki (Queen Warrior) of the Akko Emirate in Gombe State.
The Lamido of Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, conferred the honour on Thursday during Mrs. Tinubu’s two-day official visit to the state.
According to the monarch, the recognition was in appreciation of her consistent efforts toward safeguarding the interests of vulnerable groups across Nigeria.
In her acceptance remarks, Mrs. Tinubu thanked the emir and people of Akko for the honour.
She assured them of her continued commitment to initiatives that advance the welfare of women and girls, particularly in education and personal development.
She also appealed to traditional rulers in Gombe to support her ongoing advocacy.
The conferment ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo.
As part of her engagements in the state, the First Lady is expected to inaugurate the Renewed Hope Initiative, Flow With Confidence project, a nationwide menstrual health programme designed to support schoolgirls.
