A Magistrate Court in Kano has instructed the Kano State Hisbah Board to organize the marriage of two well-known TikTok content creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days.

The directive comes after the duo appeared in viral videos considered “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.

The footage, which showed them sharing romantic moments, was deemed to go against the state’s moral and religious standards.

Magistrate Halima Wali, who presided over the case, issued the ruling on Monday.

She emphasized that failure to arrange the marriage within the allotted time would be considered contempt of court.

In addition to Hisbah’s involvement, the court also ordered the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise and ensure the execution of the marriage mandate.

The content creators had recently been arraigned over accusations of circulating obscene material on social media.

Mai Wushirya was previously detained following the release of videos that authorities claimed depicted “immoral and degrading behavior” involving the female influencer.

The state censorship board argued that the clips violated local laws prohibiting sexually explicit or suggestive content.
