Serifat Olubukola Talabi, a Director at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), has tragically passed away just four days before her scheduled retirement and 60th birthday celebration.

Talabi was reportedly hit by a vehicle on October 18, 2025, while attempting to cross the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp in the Ibafo area of Ogun State.

Until her death, Talabi served as the Director of Procurement at LASRRA.

She had already made preparations for a combined Thanksgiving, Retirement, and 60th Birthday ceremony, which was planned to take place on October 22, 2025, at 11 am at the NERDC Conference Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, near the Fela Shrine.

According to reports, Talabi officially turned 60 on October 13, which marked the statutory retirement age from the civil service.

However, the event was postponed to accommodate the absence of LASRRA’s General Manager, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, who was away at the time.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, LASRRA’s Public Relations Officer, Basirat Lawal, expressed the agency’s grief and shock over the sudden loss.

“We are still in shock after receiving the news. She came to the office on Friday. Everything was set for her retirement on October 22. The agency will attend her burial,” Lawal said.

Talabi was posted to LASRRA in 2018 and was promoted to the rank of Director earlier in 2025.
