The government of Ondo State has requested that citizens maintain calm following reports of a leaked security memo from the Department of State Services (DSS) warning of coordinated attacks by ISWAP in certain communities within the state.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, described the memo as routine intelligence shared among security agencies, emphasising that it is being acted upon.
The document, addressed to the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure, pinpointed locations such as Oyin‑Akoko, Eriti‑Akoko (Akoko North‑West LGA) and Owo (Owo LGA) as potential targets.
State authorities confirmed that security measures have been ramped up.
The police, under Commissioner Adebowale Lawal, held a high‑powered meeting with stakeholders from the Akoko region to fortify intelligence sharing and community policing.
Government spokespersons reaffirmed that public safety remains the priority and urged residents to go about their daily activities while staying vigilant and reporting any suspicious behavior to security agencies.
