The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested popular Lagos socialite, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, better known as Pretty Mike, alongside more than 100 individuals during a weekend raid targeting illicit drug activities in nightclubs across Lagos.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed that the operation took place at Proxy Lagos, a nightclub owned by Pretty Mike and located in Victoria Island.
According to Babafemi, the agency acted on credible intelligence suggesting that a “drug party” was being hosted at the venue.
NDLEA operatives reportedly kept the club under surveillance from 11 pm on Saturday before moving in around 3 am on Sunday.
“During the raid, several cartons of suspected drugs, including ‘loud’ (a strong strain of cannabis) and canisters of laughing gas, were recovered from the club’s store and from some of the guests in attendance,” the statement said.
Babafemi added that all arrested persons, including Pretty Mike, were taken into custody for profiling and further investigation, noting that appropriate legal action would follow based on the findings.
“The agency acted on reliable intelligence that the venue was being used for a drug party. All suspects are currently being screened, and necessary steps will be taken in line with the law,” Babafemi stated.
Pretty Mike, well-known for his flamboyant lifestyle and unconventional appearances at social events, has long been a controversial figure in Lagos’ entertainment scene.
